Senior Tax Manager

 

Years of Experience: 8-10 years (public accounting firm)

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Remote) (Candidate MUST currently live in California)

Shift: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Compensation: $150,000-$180,000

*Growth: Looking for someone who can eventually become a Partner!*

 

 

Our client is a well-known CPA firm in the Los Angeles area that has offered proactive and responsive advisory, assurance and tax services to family-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and other successful individuals throughout the United States and abroad since 1942.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or other related area

  • Candidate MUST currently live in California

  • Master’s in taxation is preferred.

  • California CPA license

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of recent professional work experience in public accounting

  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop staff.

  • Demonstrated projected management skills.

  • Exposure to International taxation laws is preferred.

 

 

Role as Senior Tax Manager:

  • Perform quality review of all tax work products.

  • Primary person for keeping current with tax laws and recommending tax planning opportunities.

  • Analyze complicated tax issues and develop recommendations for implementation.

  • Maintain the highest of professional standards for the Firm.

  • Develop tax knowledge of the staff.

 

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Primary person checking all Personal, Gift Tax, Exempt Organization, Estate, and Trust income tax returns prepared by the staff and Partners.  Secondary person checking all C Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, LLC, LLP, and Benefit Plan returns and to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical issues and completeness based on the Firm’s and government standards.

  • Preparation and/or review of form 706’s

  • Monitor the tax return checking review drawers to ensure that good workflow is maintained.

  • Discuss review notes with staff to teach, tutor and coach their professional knowledge and growth within the Firm.

  • Lead/perform higher level tax research and consulting projects.

  • Communication with the COO and Scheduler regarding client work commitments, staff assignments and upcoming deadlines

  • Responsible for developing and supporting the Firm’s learning plan.

  • Approve staff prepared correspondence to Government Agencies for tax notices, etc. before Partner’s signature.

  • Perform or assist Partners and staff with tax research projects.

  • Conduct personal income tax interviews.

  • Preparation of personal income tax returns

  • Perform or assist Partners with income tax audits.

 

 

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Active member of the Tax Committee

  • Recommend changes and updates to the Firm’s Accounting Manual (Tax Section)

  • Participate in tax specialist subgroups of Nexia International.

  • Participate in performance reviews of accounting staff.

  • Participate in staff coaching and mentoring programs.

 

 

Relationship to Others:

  • Works with the accounting staff as teacher, mentor, and coach

  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside professionals (i.e., attorneys, bankers, certified financial planners, financial and wealth advisors, insurance, pension consultants, etc.)

  • Maintain a professional relationship with clients

 

Remote Senior Tax Accountant

Years of Experience: 6+ years (public accounting firm)

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Remote)

Shift: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Compensation: $90,000-$115,000 per year.

 

 

Our client is a well-known CPA firm in the Los Angeles area that has offered proactive and responsive advisory, assurance and tax services to family-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and other successful individuals throughout the United States and abroad since 1942.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or other related area

  • CPA license preferred.

  • 6+ years’ experience within a public accounting firm

  • Experience with  individual, corporations and partnership tax

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Performing a detailed general ledger review of clients’ accounting records

  • Preparation of interim and year-end compiled financial statements

  • Preparation of reviewed financial statements

  • Supervision of Bookkeeper and staff accountants on their day-to-day responsibilities

  • Performing financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations

  • Supervision of staff accountants on financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations

  • Perform tax planning for business and individual clients.

  • Preparation of business and individual tax returns

  • Preparation of basic estate tax returns

  • Preparation of gift tax returns

  • Supervision of staff accountants on assigned tax return engagements

  • Correspondence with government agencies and clients

  • QuickBooks training for clients

  • Responsible for supporting the Firm’s learning plan.

  • Responsible for assisting staff accountants with their professional training and development.

 

 

Tax Senior

Years of Experience: 2+ years’ experience (public accounting firm)

Location: Port Washington, NY

Shift: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Compensation: Based on experience

 

 

Our client is a full-service accounting firm providing organizations of all sizes, across key industries, with the financial tools and insights to make strategic decisions, capture opportunities, and reallocate resources deftly and quickly.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Experience with individual, corporate and partnership tax.

  • Audit experience a plus, not required.

  • CPA preferred, not required

  • 2+ years tax & accounting experience within a public accounting firm.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ability to analyze financial statements and preparation of journal entries as needed to close the books for purposes of preparing tax returns.

  • Understanding and experience with accounting assignments, i.e., performing a writeup and generating a trial balance.

  • Ability to work both independently and in group settings.

  • Become familiar with pertinent IRC sections and regulations.

  • Become proficient in preparing more complex corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, and other tax returns prepared by the firm. This would include multistate returns. Assume responsibility for the completion of tax returns under the supervision of more experienced staff.

  • Begin development on becoming an advisor to our clients by learning how to present advice to their Manager and Partners.

  • Learn how to do tax planning for their clients, including projections and recommendation letters.

  • Encouraged to make progress with the CPA Exam.

Audit Senior

Years of Experience: 4-5 years’ experience (public accounting firm)

Location: New York, NY 

Shift: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Compensation: Based on experience

 

 

Our client is a full-service accounting firm providing organizations of all sizes, across key industries, with the financial tools and insights to make strategic decisions, capture opportunities, and reallocate resources deftly and quickly.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA preferred, not required

  • 4-5 years audit/assurance experience within a public accounting firm.

  • Experience with financial statement preparation (including compilation and review engagements).

  • Ability to analyze financial statements and preparation of journal entries as needed to close the books.

  • Ability to work both independently and in group settings.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform financial statement engagements such as audits, compilations, reviews, agreed-upon procedures, etc.

  • Perform outsourced accounting services for clients in various industries

  • Obtain an understanding of the firm's policies, procedures, and software applications.
